COLUMBIA, SC -- Conservation Voters of South Carolina questions
the process by which the Board of the Department of Health and
Environmental Control (DHEC) so quickly selected Eleanor Kitzman to
replace Catherine Templeton as Director of DHEC. Executive Director
Ann Timberlake released the following statement:
"Why the rush? There is no indication that Catherine Templeton leaves DHEC in a state that required a hasty selection for her replacement. What criteria did the Board use for selecting the next leader of South Carolina's public health and environmental protection agency? Who else was considered? When the Board hired Catherine Templeton, she was one of three candidates seriously considered for the position."
